One of Score’s most powerful features is the ability to edit the instrumentation used in the production of your track. In this brief guide we’ll walk you through the instrument panel as well as the key functions you’ll use when tweaking your track’s sound:

Instrument Panel Overview:
When you first open a track in the workspace, the instruments shown in the instrument panel come from the band you defined in Making Music.
Instruments for your current track are displayed in the left panel, also called the Instrument Panel. Instruments are grouped in sections, according to their Instrument Category, and appear in rows listed by their Instrument Name followed by each respective Tone Tag.
Previewing an Instrument:
Score allows you to preview individual instruments to isolate their sound from the overall track.
Here’s how:
- Hover over an instrument
- Click its dedicated play button to hear a preview
Removing an Instrument:
Score gives you two ways to easily remove instruments from your band.
One-click:
- Hover over the instrument
- Click the remove button
- Click the yellow render button to render your changes
- Voila!
Right-click:
- Right click the instrument
- Select remove instrument
- Click the yellow render button to render your changes
- Voila!
Adding an Instrument:
If your band needs a little extra boom to fatten it up, adding an instrument is only a few clicks away. Here's two ways to easily add an instrument to your band:
Global Add:
- Click on the yellow “Add Instrument” button in the bottom right of the instrument panel
- Select an Instrument Category from the options shown
- Select an Instrument Type from the options shown
- Select an Instrument from the options shown
- Select a Tone option from the drop-down menu
- Click the yellow render button to render your changes
Category Add:
- Hover over an Instrument Category
- Click the black "Category Add" button
- Select an Instrument Type from the options shown
- Select an Instrument from the options shown
- Select a Tone option from the drop-down menu
- Click the yellow render button to render your changes
Changing Tone of an Instrument:
If you want to tweak an instrument without changing the instrument itself, try changing the instrument’s tone.
- Click on the Tone Tag to expand the tone menu
- Preview different tones by clicking the play icon to the right of the tag
- Once you’ve found a new tone you like, click the Tone Tag
- Your instrument will visually update in the instrument list
- Click the yellow render button to render your changes
